Goole Swimming Club

Goole Swimming Club

The Swimming Club was founded in 1907, so we are 100 years old. Swimming use to take place at the then Baths Hall in Pasture Road, this building was also used during the winter months as a venue for tea dances, with the swimming pool being covered over with a floor.

The Club is to serve members of the community; all ages are catered for, although some criteria are in place as regards joining.

The club is run by a committee, and all members including the coaches are volunteers. Subscriptions are to pay for the hire of the pool and equipment used to enable the activities to take place.

To join young people must be at least 5 years old and able to swim 25metres on their front and 10 metres on their back, have the ability to tread water and like being in the deep end of the pool.

We meet on a Saturday morning 0800 -0900hr this group covers all ranges of ability

Tuesday evening 1900-1940 lower ability, working on development of the 4 swimming strokes and related skills.

1940-2020 able to swim greater distances (200m), without deterioration of stroke technique.

2020-2115-swim to a training schedule.

2115-2200- this session is for adult beginners/improvers. Lifesaving also takes place at this time for anybody who would like to learn new skills with the provision to take their bronze medallion or higher lifesaving awards, must be over 13 years old.

Woodland Squash Club

The Squash Club has been running for around 2 years. The club is based at Goole Leisure Centre and is run by Derek Norris. The Club is to serve members of the community; all ages are catered for, although some criteria are in place as regards joining. There is also opportunity to progress to the Humber Academy.
